The Whole Life Center (WLC) provides a “Next Step” ministry that journeys with our clients to provide pathways from poverty to independence.
The Whole Life Center provides educational opportunities for our clients by equipping them with the tools to develop personally–to hopefully transform their lives.
Some of these opportunities are classes for
We seek to explore hobbies and talents such as gardening and art and provide interactive activities.
Other services offered are laundry services and health care card eligibility.
The Whole Life Center is located at 206 1st Avenue SE, Hickory, one block from the main campus of Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministries and beside the Hickory Soup Kitchen.

The Whole Life Center (WLC) will collaborate with community partners to avoid duplicating services and to further assist our clients with taking their ‘Next Steps’. These areas will include, but are not limited to the following:

Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry (GHCCM) announced in March of 2020 that the Whole Life Center will be known as the Dr. John and Carol de Perczel Whole Life Center.
Dr. John de Perczel was an Orthopedic physician for 35 years in Hickory. Carol, his wife of 38 years, states “John was a long-time volunteer at GHCCM in the free and charitable medical clinic. As an Orthopedic surgeon, he was able to ease the pain of many people who otherwise might not have access to medical care. GHCCM held a warm place in his heart. I am thrilled for this opportunity to do something in his memory that was so special to him.”
