Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry (GHCCM) is the place within Catawba County and Alexander County for those who are medically uninsured to find Medical, Dental and Pharmacy services. Even with Medicare and Medicaid, there remain individuals who can’t afford healthcare and do not qualify for either of these government programs.
The GHCCM Dr. John Earl Medical Ministry Clinic is equipped and ready to serve those who fall below the 300% US Federal Government Poverty Guidelines and have no access to medical insurance or pharmaceuticals. For example, one in a household with an income below $45,180.00 or a family of two with a household income below $61,320.00 would qualify. For each additional family member, add $5,380. Oftentimes, it could be a part-time employee at a restaurant or at a place of business where health insurance is not offered. GHCCM also serves those who are undocumented. On most days, those who speak Spanish will find an interpreter at the ministry. For those speaking other languages, it is suggested to bring someone to help with completing the application form and to discuss the care that is available.
Services available include the following: in-house primary and specialty care visits plus referrals to community specialty care providers; on-site lab services provided by LabCorp and off-site radiological services provided by Catawba Radiology; dental evaluations, cleanings, fillings, extractions, plus X rays; general and diabetic eye exams and referrals for in-depth vision services; and pharmacy services. Many of the services offered are provided by businesses, practices and medical providers who donate their time to serve those who qualify for GHCCM offerings.
