It is with great pleasure that the Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry (GHCCM) Board of Directors announces the new Executive Director of GHCCM, Lily Moody. She has been with ministry for over 2 years and held positions as the Director of the Whole Life Center, Assistant Executive Director and for the past 8 months as the Interim Executive Director. Ms. Moody is ‘honored to be selected as the Executive Director”. She refers to her new position as an opportunity to follow the mission of GHCCM, “In Response to God’s call– It is a privilege to serve GHCCM as the Executive Director. GHCCM is a faith-based organization built on the foundations of Christian principles and values. The values of compassion, transformation, integrity, and stewardship are deeply woven into our daily interactions with our neighbors. With this depth of commitment from our dedicated staff and volunteers, we will continue to strive to provide HOPE, HELP and HEALING FOR ALL in most need. I will continue to build alliances and cohesive partnerships in our community to address systemic poverty and to create a pathway for a brighter future”.
Ms. Moody continues, “By working together, we will gain momentum to empower our neighbors to move from crisis intervention to greater stability. These past two and a half years have had a profound effect on me as a Human Services Professional. I will continue to support the growth of GHCCM by establishing and implementing innovative ministry offerings that align with our mission, values, and vision. We are blessed to do the work that really matters; the work that allows us to walk with our neighbors one step at a time.”
A favorite quote that Ms. Moody lives by is as follows, “One of the greatest things you can do to help others is not just to share and give what you have, but to help them discover what they have within themselves to help themselves-Rita Zahara.”
Jennifer McCracken, GHCCM Board President and Director of Catawba County Public Health states, “the GHCCM Board of Directors took a hard look and in-depth research to determine the best candidate for the Executive Director position. After exploring different candidates, it was determined that Lily Moody possesses the qualities that are needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Lily took her role as Interim Director seriously and embraced the mission and vision of GHCCM. She has demonstrated leadership, dedication and insight that has benefitted neighbors and staff alike. Lily’s passion and skill will take the work of GHCCM to the next level.”
Ms. Moody has an extensive background in community advocacy, management, and human services. In addition to her leadership positions at GHCCM, Lily is a graduate from Leadership Catawba Sponsored by Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, has served as Ambassador for Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, currently serves on the Advisory Board for Leadership Catawba Sponsored by Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, completed-Nonprofit Management Program – Duke University and is currently enrolled in Financial Nonprofit Management at Cornell University.
Her previous experience includes 13 years in Nonprofit Management: Sexual Assault Manager, Domestic Violence Manager to Program Director (Shelter Home of Caldwell County); honorable Discharge US Army Reserve- Fort Jackson, SC; Human Services Professional -Advocacy, Mentoring, Policy Implementation, Government Compliance; Career Path -Vocational Rehabilitation, Vocational Evaluation, Work Adjustment, Human Resources/Job Placement, Western Regional JobLink Coordinator; field Experience: field Educator/Supervisor; program facilitator: SOAR-SSDI, Darkness 2 Light, Good Touch/Bad Touch (Child Help) and completion of “Community Rehabilitation Program” at Auburn University.
Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry (GHCCM) mission is “to provide Hope, Help and Healing for All in most need through Service Advocacy and Community Support.” The ministry brings together resources to provide healthcare for the uninsured, food and nutrition, financial and housing assistance, supportive services and much more to those in crisis. As stated by Linda Wade, GHCCM Director of Development, “our approach is wholistic – whole person care. At GHCCM, we strive to address the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of our neighbors (clients). Physical and emotional well-being with spiritual growth is important to an individual’s overall wellness.”
GHCCM is dependent on grants and financial contributions to continue offering the wide range of support to its most vulnerable neighbors.
