OUR MISSION, OUR VISION, OUR VALUES

OUR MISSION: Provide Hope, Help & Healing to those in most need through Service, Advocacy & Community Support.

OUR VISION:  Work with each neighbor to identify the factors keeping them in poverty and to set a plan in place that provides them with the hope and help needed to seek and find greater independence, self-reliance, and personal healing.

OUR VALUES:

Respond to God’s Call – Share the good news of Jesus Christ in serving others.

Servant Leadership – Place the needs of others before our own.

Compassion – Serve with a humble and gracious heart.

Community Involvement – Reach our vision through partnerships and collaborations.

Risk Taking – Have the courage to act on our convictions, take risks, and, when necessary, be willing to change.

HOPE.HELP.HEALING.FOR ALL!

Since 1969, Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry has served as the area’s hub for providing and coordinating services for the uninsured and people and families in crisis, living in poverty and/or experiencing homelessness. Today, we remain a faith-based, volunteer-driven organization providing a wide array of programs, services, and solutions. People come to GHCCM seeking help with both simple and complex problems.

Immediate Needs May Be:

• Help with a past due electric bill or food for their family

• A blanket or backpack for their belongings

• Financial assistance because they are facing eviction from their home

After helping with immediate needs, we begin working on an individualized Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). This life, health and wellness assessment identifies a multitude of issues:

• Health problems
• Substance abuse
• Physical or emotional abuse
• Unsafe or substandard living environments
• Education
• Housing needs
• Disability
• Employment
• Special needs of children or family members
• Legal concerns
• Community and social networks
• Food insecurity
• Finances
• Mental health
• Faith and spiritual care

We are then able to further help coordinate services and programs, with the overall goal of increasing and improving a person’s emotional, financial and spiritual stability. Services for financial assistance for utilities and rent are also available as needed.

HELPING BY DOING WITH, NOT FOR.

With the belief that every person has the ability to achieve independence and self-sufficiency by connecting to a community network of friendship and support, Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry Navigators work alongside each neighbor to direct him/her to community programs and services that will help the neighbor and his/her family become more stable.
